Payroll - Correct Social Security Records

    Ugh!
Just spoke with a business client, that I have been preparing payroll for over the last 10 years - and there needs to be a correction on the SSN# for an employee. A re-issued number - don't ask and I won't tell!

Not only the State but SSA - State should not be an issue as we can probably limit to a few years for the credits for Unemployment or State Disability Benefits.

What I am concerned with is correcting all of the Past Social Security/Medicare credits. How far in the past? What is the procedure?

    Anyone had this experience!

    reissued SS NUMBER

If the original number used belonged to that employee you do not have change any thing. When they apply for benefits social security will put the two numbers together to figure his monthly benefits.I have personal knowledge of this procedure.
