IRS is dropping the DA option frm E Services-HELP

I am posting to ask every pro on this site to please call E Services (866) 255-0654 to protest the "retiring" of the DA option on their site.
I further urge each of you to email the IRS Commissioner at
    IRS.Commissioner@irs.gov

This will cause all of us to have to:
    1. submit POA's via fax and wait 48 to 72 hours before we can obtain info via E-Services
    or
    2. call the preparer hotline for info we normally download from the E Services site

The IRS reasoning is that this option is not used enough to suit them. True or not by eliminating it from the site they effectually render E Services useless for those of us who don't want to wait for the information. It will also cause such an influx of calls to the hotline that the wait time will increase

E-Services DA option does not require that the POA be submitted to CAF. The priority hotline personnel as well as other divisions of the IRS do not, necessarily submit a POA, sent to them, to CAF. I usually input the POA to EServices and if I want it to become a permanent IRS record, I then fax it to CAF.

I urge each of you to make it priority to call E Services asap in protest of this action. Let our voices be heard!

    Not quite.

They are not planning to eliminate electronic transcript delivery, at least not yet. And electronically submitted 2848's go immediately to CAF. That has been one of the nice features.

transcript delivery-why would you want to wait up to three days to get this from E Services when you can get it immediately by phoning the hotline?

2848's submitted to E Services does not go to CAF. You need to fax them to E Services to get them on your CAF list. If you are speaking with collections or any other division of the IRS and the person asks you to fax a POA, very few of them forward the POA to CAF.

By dropping the option to input the POA in E Services they delay the process of our being able to get the transcripts, etc, immediately.

If you find the process of inputting the POA in E Services, as I did, get Tax Scripts software...it makes the process very easy.

The IRS is not always willing to fax the transcripts. It depends on the agent. Most want to mail them. Sometimes they will fax but they say it can be 48 hrs before the fax goes through. But either way, my client usually never receives the info by fax or mail. So, that entails a lot of wasted time and more calling to the IRS. At this time, if POAs are mailed or faxed in they are not entered into CAF in 3 days. It is at least 10 days.

When the POA is entered by me through e-services, it absolutely does go into CAF. I have entered my POA through e-services many times and immdediately called the PPL. The POA was on file.

I've have yet to have an agent not fax the docs I requested asap. None that I have spoken to ever told me they would have to be mailed. I believe they order the older years through the computer to be faxed and if, for whatever reason, this isn't possible, only then do they get mailed.

I must be one of the majority

I have never had good luck with E-services and will not miss it for one minute. I know we are not talking all e-services here, just 2 of the services.
As mentioned somewhere else, another big issue may well be the difficulty of keeping the information secure. The thugs get more sophisticated every day.

95% of my need for transcripts are for multi-year nonfilers, with no AGI available, for that reason I can't use eservices. And, I use the 8821 almost exclusively which never was usable on eservices for electronic transcripts. I won't miss it.
