Sales Tax/Itemized Deduction. Sales Tax on Auto Deductible In Addition to Schedule?

Can we deduct the sales tax on a car in addition to the schedule allowance? Just curious?

    From TTB page 4-8:

    2) Instead of actual taxes paid, use the amount from the optional
state sales tax tables in Tab 16. Add to this amount:
    • Local general sales taxes if imposed by the taxpayer’s locality.
Sales taxes paid on motor vehicles as described, above.
    • Sales taxes paid on aircraft, boats, homes (including mobile
and prefabricated homes), and materials used to build a
home, but only if the tax is imposed at the general sales tax
    rate. (Notice 2005-31).

Wasn't the sales tax on vehicles extended for 2012...if it was then you can still take State tax or sales tax plus the items listed by the prior poster.
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.

Yes, the the tax schedule allowance plus sales tax on vehicle. The schedule covers everything else. When you have a big ticket purchase like a vehicle you add that to the standard allowance.
