    EA Renewal Card

I renewed my EA in Jan 2013 for 2013-2015 period.

Up till now I have not received my renewed enrollment card or any letter from IRS.

Has any of you received enrollment card yet?

    I will call IRS soon.

I am in the same boat. I completed and filed my form 8554 on line plus I paid on line. I have a copy of my "confirm payment" dated very early Jan 2013. I have not received any correspondence.

The question is, are we still allowed to present ourselves as an EA?

NSNM, please share your finding after you make your call.

Delay in sending EA Renewal Card

This morning I called IRS Enrolled Agent and Management Office at 313-234-1280.
Representative who took my call asked my EA number and whether I have renewed PTIN.
She said there is general delay in sending renewed cards and letters.
And she will place request ASAP to send the renewed card which may take about 2 weeks to receive.
Good thing was I did not have to wait 30 or 45 minutes to talk to a representative.

I know it does not apply to the current cycle of the EA renewal, but we encountered the same issue in the 2011 renewal, and they were way behind in issuing the EA renewal cards.

I had a paid receipt, and several months later after April 1, I received my EA Card.

Not sure why this Dept is so behind!

I think that they are waiting to receive your current year tax return. They just want to make sure that you file on time.

I was so busy that I had to file an extension for my personal tax return. So my EA renewal maybe held up due to that?

                  from e-news for tax Professionals

                  Enrolled agent updates

All enrolled agent renewal applications for SSNs ending in 0, 1, 2, or 3 that were timely submitted by January 31, 2013, have been processed and renewal cards have been issued. For renewal applications submitted after the due date, processing continues. As long as you have submitted your renewal application, your enrolled agent status continues to be active between April 1, 2013 and the date you receive your renewal card. Search Enrolled Agent on IRS.gov for details

I filed Form 8554 and paid fee on line on 01/04/2013, well before the due date of 01/31/2013.

I also filed extension for my personal tax return (1040).

The IRS representative, to whom I spoke to, said that I will receive renewal card in about two weeks.

Perhaps, due to budget cuts, IRS may not have assigned enough employees to expedite renewal applications.

And this may not be a priority job for the IRS, since they have issued notice to this effect.

Anyway, thank you all for your inputs.

EA Renewal Card for which I enquired IRS on 05/02/2013 was received by mail today (05/07/2013).
That was a quick response from IRS.
