    CP24 re Res Energy Credit

What gives. It's one thing for the IRS to ask for the supporting documents pertaining to the purchase and installation of this TP's heat pump but its another for the IRS to dissallow it without reveiwing the supporting documents.

Is "CP24" a typo? The IRS web site indicates it relates to a discrepancy between the estimated tax reported on the return and the estimated tax posted to the taxpayer's records.

Its possible it may be a typo

The IRS letter has the correct estimated Fed income tax TP paid in during 2012 for TY 2012 but the IRS in their calculation did not include the TP energy credit. 2nd call to the IRS in 1 week. So far its me 1 IRS 0. Hope this one turns out same way.

I am still dealing with one of the same nature, involving AOC. IRS simply disallowed it on 2010 (2nd yr taken) with no explanation. Then when we balked, they wanted proof of payments. Had to get transcripts from college and cancelled checks. Have already taken 3rd (2011) and 4th year (2012).

Just got a letter indicating discrepancy on 2012 tax return. Finally, at bottom of 2nd paragraph it says estimated tax on record does not agree with amts reported on tax return. We didn't report ANY estimated tax as TP says she didn't pay any. (Elderly and slipping). IRS used to provide breakdown of what they have so we could match. No info given in letter. So I guess we play 20 questions -- okay....what DO you have? And WHEN did you get it? If I had a date(s) and/or amt(s), this would be a lot easier to narrow down. Will e-Services furnish this info?

E-services should let you get an account transcript, showing all the amounts the IRS believe were paid.
