1099-R with Distribution Code of "0Q"

Does any one know what the "0" before the Q is for in box 7 for distribution code?

The digit "0" is not used in any of the Box 7 codes (and neither is the letter "O"). Also code Q is never used with any other letter or digit. If the 1099-R you have is reporting a qualified Roth IRA distribution, the code should just be "Q" alone.

The instructions for form 1099-R contain a nice chart listing every possible code, including all the two character combinations.

      1099-R with code "0Q"

I looked at the codes as well as saw there was no '0" listed; that is why I was questioning the 1099-R. I have two 1099-R's and they both are listed with the "0Q" code. I guess I will just input the "Q".

Their sftware may have been programmed to show two digits in that box, so it puts a leading "0" when only one character is called for. Sloppy programming, but possible.
