    Weird Math, Part II

    Okay, never mind.

He must have sold the stock in April or May of 2012. So during 2012, he only received one quarterly dividend--the one that was paid in March.

If he received $14, and the dividend was 28.8 cents per share for that one quarter...

Then that implies that he had about 49 shares.

If that's the case, then sales proceeds of $3189 suggest that the stock was sold for about $65 per share.

Thanks for all the input. I haven't been on here in a few days as just no time and been busy, imagine that. It was Computershare. 1099DIV is issued by Wellpoint, Inc c/o Computershare for 13.80. The 1099B also thru Computershare. 48 shares sold 5/31/2012 for 3197.72 (67.26 per share). Shows 24 shares purchased 11/2/2001 and another 24 shares 5/31/2005.

If the 1099-B shows 48 shares, that kind of indicates that dividends were not reinvested. Otherwise, there would be fractional shares. Drat.
