Widows tax docs has late husbands ss#

New client widowed 2 years now. Late husband's SS is on 1099-B Trust and on 1099-R IRA TTEES. Looked at her 2011 tax return and she alredy filed single in 2011. This is NOT a EIN on this forms, its a SS#. Hard to tell but looks like previous preparer included these docs in her 2011 income because the brokerage name appears in the return but no copies of the actual 2011 Brokerage statements.

Sounds like she has not done what she should have to get them transferred into her name. Income still goes on her return. So last year guy probably did it right.

      Phoned the client this A.M.

Client tells me she has 2 SS#'s....mmhhh. I looked at her SSA-1099 and on the bottom in box 8 was a different SS# with at "D" on the end. She believes that was her late husbands SS#.

Sounds like she is drawing SS off her husband. Then it would have his SSN.
