    Single mom w/6 yr old child live w/parents

    New client. I am a little leary of filing HOH since both live with her parents and she pays nothing to her parents for rent, nothing for food, very little in the medical bills catergory, very little for her kids clothes etc. Basically not even close to 50% support for her kid.

    It would depend on how much Mom earns. See TTB page 3-16, the 5th, 6th, and 7th scenarios (particularly the 7th scenario), and also the referenced footnotes on page 3-17.

      Well, if she doesn't pay at least 50% for keeping up the home she has to file single.

        Or, if seperated from husband but not yet divorced = MFS.
