have a client who works on the pipeline in ND, lives in Kansas. Works for 4-6 weeks and then comes home for a couple of weeks. Residency is KS, owns a home, has family. Could the mileage between home and ND be deductible as an employee business expense?

not really, he goes and works for a while, pretty much nonstop, and then gets days off to come home. He may go to MT in the next few months, and do the same thing over again. But he has been in ND for a couple of years. I guess not temporary (at least for under one year). He asked, I didn't think so, but needed to confirm. Thanks

These employee expenses can get to be a pain in the neck. One thing to keep in mind is to determine his tax home then go from there.
