    TP signs/dates, Spouse signs/dates 2 days later

Never had this situation before. Taxpayer signs and dates tax return today but then needs to leave town. Spouse returns Friday to sign and date. Dates will be separated by 2 days. I am not aware of anything prohibiting this but just thought I would check.

It happens all the time, especially in these busy days. Think of a over the road trucker who may be gone a week or two at a time. The spouse picks up the return, signs it and waits for the trucker to get home to sign.

And I don't worry about it either. After all, these forms stay in our files anyway.
Has anyone ever had IRS come in and want to see all the 8879's?
