    Corrected Form 1096

    To file a corrected Form 1096, should type "corrected" somewhere on the form? There is no box to check to specify that it is a corrected form.

    You merely need to indicate the correction by marking the Corrected box on each affected 1099. Also, see page 8 of the 1099 Misc instructions as some fixes do not require you to mark the Corrected box on each 1099.

      Hi Dave, what about if one more Form 1099-MISC needed to be added after the original Form 1096 has been filed. In this case, do we mark "corrected" on the additional Form 1099-MISC?

        No, you just do a new 1096 with the new 1099MISC, showing "1." The 1096 is a summary of what you are sending in.
