Online Classes-LifeTime Learning Credit-Need Federal ID

Client needs to take course annually and chose to take online. She is having difficulty getting the Federal ID from such places. The software is requiring this now. Any suggestions?

I have needed federal ID's before and googled it by the name and was successful, maybe that would work for you?

I would make sure you answered no on the question of whether 1098-T was received. The IRS form itself indicates

"(4) If you checked “Yes” in (2) or (3), enter the institution's federal identification number (from Form 1098-T)"

So if those are both no and the software is still requiring an EIN I think that is a software issue.
