    tuition paid for 2013 term

I thought I had read somewhere that if the tuition that was paid in 2012 was for terms in 2013 you couldn't use that part for the credit. Does anyone else remember that? If so, where is it? I looked for it and can't find it.

No knowledge of such a rule

That's news to me....never heard that.

There are, however, restrictions as to which "next year" tuition can be considered, hence the reason for Box 7 on Form 1098-T.

That would be along the lines of "spring semester - good!" and "summer school - bad!" for end-of-year advance payments.

        losing my mind

I thought I had asked the question but I couldn't find it. So decided I THOUGHT about posting the question but never got it done.

        Thanks. (both times)
