    1099-q

My software (ATX) does not have an input form for the 1099-Q distributions. Does most other software have it?

So far as I know - "yes" (Form 1099-Q has been on two different tax software programs I've used)

Well, if some or all of the earnings reported on form 1099-Q are taxable, they go on F-1040, line 21 -- Other income. Does your tax prep program have an input screen for line 21?

See if there is a link from line 34.

Yes, it has an input screen for Line 21 and 1099Q is on there for the net bottom-line taxable amt if any. What it does not have is an input screen for the 1099Q and/or a worksheet to calculate this as outlined in the Education Credit Pub for QTP's. So it has to be done outside the program.
