Taxpayer Filed MFS then Changed Her Mind

Never ran across this before. Wondering how to fix it. Taxpayer got married during the year. She filed MFS (Turbo Tax), then decided it would be better to file MFJ. Husband had not filed yet. What would be the correct procedure to remedy this problem? She just filed so haven't received any refunds yet.

Amend her return to MFJ and added spouses income. Mail in the amendment once she receives her refund. Very simple fix

You can amend a Married Filing Joint (MFJ) return to a Married Filing Separate (MFS) return and vice versa.

**NOTE: Once you have filed your tax return as Married Filing Joint (MFJ), you CANNOT amend your filing status after the April 15th deadline. Any change to filing status has to be done before the deadline.

**NOTE: Once you've filed your tax return as Married Filing Separate (MFS), you have three years from the original deadline to make the change to your tax return. This deadline DOES NOT include any filing extensions.

Shouldn't be a problem. Kind of like getting married - limits to join are few, but once you tie the knot you have a limited time to get out.
