    Rmd 2013

    relative was 70 in september 2012 so, she will be taking RMD this year . if that rmd is lower than filing requirements is she still required to file a tax return just to show that she took distribution?

    I would say no, unless they withheld some FIT from it. But tp should instruct them not to. IRS records will get a copy of the 1099R and if that is only income they will not expect a return to be filed.

      However remember to include half (probably) of social security benefits in the calculation to make sure of no filing requirement.
