    W-2, w-3, 1099, 1096

Of the forms W-2, W-3, 1099 series, 1096, which ones have to be printed on red ink forms?

Someone told me W-2 and W-3 can be printed on black ink forms. But 1099 series and 1096 still require red ink forms. Is it correct?

That is correct. The IRS copies of the 1099 and 1096 need to be on red forms.

      Neither

e-file them and don't worry about the red copies.
I would put a favorite quote in here, but it would get me banned from the board.

        Thank you KBTS and Matt.

I know the W-2 and W-3 can be efiled through the SSA website for free. Is there a free service to efile the 1099 and 1096 too?

Don't you have to select the "Red Electrons" when e-filing them in order to avoid a reject?

I don't think so. You have to upload a properly-formated file into https:\\fire.irs.gov
