    Software Corrections

Alway wonder why there are so many corrections when new software comes out. Get updates and correction all the time with Drake. Do they not run the many scenarios thru while producing the software? Just venting, I guess.

Do you understand why we aren't allowed to efile until after January 30th?

Many of these updates probably have nothing to do with you in particular. When you take into consideration that the software must work with 3 or 4 different operating systems; a multitude of different computers and printers and various states, to me, it is very understandable. And when combining various combinations of situations, there would be no way to run all the scenarios. For example, a couple of years ago, when I contacted them about something not printing right on my state returns, it was apparently the first time it had come up to them. And it was corrected within a couple of days.

Another way of looking at it, they are constantly being proactive in trying to keep things up to date, whereas, from postings I read, many of the other software companies can not even get the program working correctly and refuse to acknowledge many of the problems.

Understand your frustration, and share it at times, but actually appreciate their efforts. I have commented to others that putting out tax software must be one of the toughest software applications to provide. Because of having to wait for the circus in Washington, it is wait, wait, wait - haven't you finished yet?

Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

        Because the IRS says so??

FWIW: Same restrictions cover paper returns....

In the simplest of terms, delay is a result of Congress waiting until the very last moment to get (most) 2012 tax rules in place.
