    New York changes W2 requirement

    Does anyone know why New York decided to go back to requiring a copy of the W2 with a mailed in return? Why did they eliminate the IT-2, IT-1099R, etc?

      NY W-2 Requirement

      Probably - to make it more inconvenient and more troublesome to file a tax return by paper.

          Speculation, but if they got a number of non-existent W-2 on the schedule that they couldn't match up later. Or people were doing returns off the last paystub and it wasn't matching the W-2.
