    RFID File Tracking

    We are looking for an inexpensive (if possible) Radio Frequency File Identification system. With about a dozen tax prepares & reviewers and over 1,000 client folders, we inevitably misplace a file or two during tax season. We keep almost all the documents on an eFile system, however each client does have a paper file for Tax and another for Financial Management.

    We have found several on the internet, however none have pricing and hard to tell which systems are reliable. We would appreciate any recommendations of a system that has proven itself.

    Consider a bar code system?

    RFID sounds like overkill unless you expect client files to routinely "walk out the door."

      Several well-known companies, including Motorola and 3M, sell a variety of file-tracking systems. Some are barcode based, and some are RFID chip based. Do an internet search, and you will get many hits. Here is one such link ...
