    W-2s No Copy B?

I've got the 2012 software for generating W-2s and 1099s.

This year there is no "copy B". Does anyone know what's going on?

    Are you sure?

I can only offer three guesses:

      (1) You are overlooking something in your software ... perhaps on the print options screen;
      (2) Your software is an early version and is not yet fully functional; or
      (3) You were drunk. Look again when you dry out.

I didn't know any TY 2012 software was even available yet!

The early version of Drake is available to be downloaded. It will need further updates before anything can be filed. Also, it does not include the CWU (payroll) program which generates W-2s which will not be available for some time yet.

Actually, the W2's are prepared in the current year CWU for Drake.

            2012 Software

I thought he was talking about 2012 software for the returns due in 2013 which might also be supposed to create W-2s from the same program used to prepare Forms 1040 etc.
Drake's 2012 payroll tax software is provided long before the 2012 tax-year software for 1040s, etc.

What software are you using? I got my W-2/1099 package in from Busiform/TAS (the one you told me about a few years ago) a couple of weeks ago. I just now loaded it and it's printing out the "B" copy okay. Are you using them or some other package now?

                Drunk indeed

Sluggo is right, I musta been drunk.

Yes, I use a standalone W-2/1099 software from BusiForm in Chattanooga - same thing I talked with
                Bart about years ago.

And it works fine. There is no selection for copy B, but when you print out the recipients' copy
                a copy B prints out...

Sorry for the fire drill folks...

Just noticed - you're right, B is not listed

While we're on the subject, this (Busiform/TAS) is a great little program if anyone is interested in something simple, direct, efficient, and cheap ($49.95). You can enter data and be printing W2s & 1099s PDQ. I used to run Greatland but it got up to about 300 bucks with more and more steps to go through (think they preferred it complicated to justify the price). For another $50 Busiform (800-716-4600) will supply you with enough forms and blanks to handle most small businesses.

The alternative (going the guv's SSA electronic filing) is free as I understand, but I prefer to have some control.
