    It is for this reason that I will get a retainer before doing ANY rep work, or before starting to work on any back tax returns. A lot of times, when someone comes in and needs several old tax years prepared, if they find out that they owe, they are not interested in picking up the completed returns. With a retainer, once I complete the returns, it doesn't really matter to me if they are picked up or not, I've been paid.

    So, after the initial interview to see if we would be a good fit for each other, I will recommend a retainer of what I believe should cover the time spent on the situation, and will re-bill when the retainer gets to within $100.00.
