    What Was I Thinking!!??

Did I fall and hit my head on the way to be a taxpreparer?

Been sitting in my chair for 7 long hours straight with clients after clients with different problems that goes on and on and on!

Taxes is a LOVE HATE affair for me especially at the END! Why is that?

      Sick of it

By this time I think most of us are sick of listening to people, lie, complain, whine, try to a cheater out us and maybe the biggest, try to do it with a smile. I have heard more stories than I need for a while, I am looking forward to mowing my lawn and digging in the dirt. I think sometimes our clients have the opinion that they are our purpose for living. Hang in there the pressure will ease soon.
      P. S. I remember when I did only 10 or 15 returns and wished I have a lot more....Be careful what you wish for.

            Wrong degree

I wonder if I should get an additional degree: in psychology. I could charge a lot more for the hour than I currently do.
People tell me some of the most personal details of their lives. Doesn't matter if it is tax or money related at all.
I had some 60+ year old woman telling me her sex life. I wanted to jab a pencil in my ear so I didn't have to hear anymore. Her husband just sat there with a look of apology written all over his face.
I sometimes think I should write all this down to read and laugh about later when I can appreicate the humor in it all.
Hang in there everyone......10 more days!!!!

                  An unexpected twist

I've had more than my usual number of kooks and whiners in this year too but I have a brighter story to share.

I had one of those clients you dread in last week, a loud know it all type. In the interview I could tell that he was going to owe big. He expensed an SUV in 2002 then traded it for a personal car. We were waiting on K-1's so I couldn't even give him a good estimate when he was in. When I finished the return he owed $20K Fed and $5K state. He had sizable refunds the previous year.

I expected a raving lunatic when I called him. To my surprise he was calm, rational and once I explained the return very understanding. He wished the accountant that had expensed the SUV would have explained the recapture rules but since I wasn't that person he took it all in stride. I'm starting to like the guy and won't dread our appointment next year.
In other words, a democratic government is the only one in which those who vote for a tax can escape the obligation to pay it.

You see, HE didn't do it, a pro did. I really hate if all kinds of descisions are made not asking the client or explaining it to client or nobody even cares and just does the automatic thing. I didn't take much of the special depreciation in previous years, since it didn't benefit my clients.

Thanks for sharing your story and enjoy the last days (I am not cynical).
