looking to buy a book that explains payroll, labor and employment laws in NY, in depth, need it for payroll department in a school with many employees, they do payroll in house, please advise which is best.

Expertise on this board is generally limited to the preparation of the payroll itself including things like paychecks and W2s to employees 1099s to Contractors and the relevant filings with the IRS and State and the management of benefit plans. Your question at least the way I understood it goes WAY beyond that into such things as the hiring discipline and firing of employees and all the terms of employment including even such things as on the job injuries, sick leave, and so on. If such was not your intent, I apologize. If such was your intent I don't think you will get much help here beyond the areas I mentioned. As far as the areas I did mention you might PM Uncle Sam and NYEA who are both in NY and are two of the higher powered tax people on or off this board.Last edited by erchess; 08-20-2012, 02:35 PM.
