1099M box 6 from VA

Client received 1099M from the VA with the only dollar amount being in box six, of which box I was not previously aware. The client is a self employed Accupuncturist and he says he got exactly that amount of money for treating patients at the VA. So I know where it should end up and I'm sure Drake can solve any odd problems I may encounter getting it there. But I still have questions.

How long has Form 1099M had a box six?

Is the VA correct in putting this payment in this box or should they have put it in box seven as I would have?
