    Education Credit Question

Client's child was in college one semester. Tuition was $2200 but child did not finish the semester and $600 was refunded. So $1600 was paid. The 1098-T says half time student. Test #3 for an eligible student is "be taking 1/2 the normal full- time workload...for at least one academic period... So I am thinking this means if you don't complete the semester you don't qualify for AOC. Agree or Disagree?

    Aoc

    Disagree.

Student withdraws from class(es). You can
claim an education credit for qualified education expenses not refunded when a student with- draws.
From Pub 17, Chapter 34, Education Credits.
