    Charitable Donation-love this answer

Asked my client if he had any charitable donations, this was his answer
Client: I would ask that we claim the max that does not require receipts, as we are always giving. Doesn't this include giving to the Veteran's AM Vets program?

My sarcastic answer is not right ;/
How does everyone else reply to these answers?

        No paper trail, no deduction.

No paper trail, no deduction. I set that rule a several yrs ago but the problem with the rule is to many other tax preparers, for I am told, only require invisible paper trails.

Well, that would be zero since the only standard deduction is, well, the actual standard deduction. Go figure.
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I'll point out that the rules are stricter for charitable deductions. For example, if I have a deductible travel expense from using the subway, I don't need a receipt as long as I have a valid log. But for the same $2 cash donation to a charity, I have to have a receipt or bank record; my own written log isn't adequate.
