    What qualifies as a First time homebuyer if they owned a home yrs ago?

    So does someone who lost their residence to abandonment 3 yrs ago qualfy them for first time homebuyer?

    TTB 13-3 $10,000 lifetime limit, has not owned a principal residence for at least two years. So, check the dates carefully, and check to see if they used this exception ever before.

          I believe they are referring to the elimination of the 10% penalty for money withdrawn from an IRA for the purchase of a home for a first time homebuyer.
