    EIC question

Granddaughter (still in HS) and granddaughter's child (great grandaughter) live with and are supported by grandmother. Granddaughter had earned income of $8,000. Grandmother had income of around $30,000. Could grandaugher claim her child for EIC and grandmother claim gt granddaughter as dependent? Or should Granddaught claim dependency and EIC for her daughter, and grandmother nothing? Or GRandmother, since she has the higher AGI, claim grandaugher and gt grandaugher and get dependency and EIC on both of them? How confusing!

    support test

Which one qualifies using the support test. I sounds like grandmother qualifies to claim both and grandaughter files as being claimed by some one else. Grandmother gets the EITC. What is the age of the granddaughter? Probably wouldn't qualify for the EITC.

the granddaughter is 18, but having a child qualifies her, doesn't it?

Cannot be the qualifying child of someone else

The granddaughter would be the qualifying child of grandma and therefore cannot be eligible for the EIC for her baby.
