    teaspiller?

Has anyone heard of a website called "Teaspiller.com" ??

One of my clients just sent a message through this website and it appears that it already had an account set up for me because of my recent RTRP status.

I'm very suspicious of anything like this, but I googled it and it looks like it is associated with the IRS.

    Wierd.

    Not my cup of tea

There is NO WAY that site is associated with the IRS!

    What is Teaspiller?
Teaspiller connects small business owners and individuals with high quality tax & accountants around the country. We aim to change the industry by providing a better, more transparent and less frustrating accounting experience for customers everywhere. Yup, sounds good to us, too.

It appears to be something like LinkedIn Network - a great place to receive never-ending spam emails and who knows what else. Anything from them now automatically gets sent to my junk email dungeon.

A friend and I set up a test (neither of us have ever associated with the site). I went there to set up an appointment with her (since the website offered the option). It told me that it sent it to her (how? neither of us know). She never got a message or any indication that someone had used the site to contact her. I never got an appointment, but did get a survey asking how I liked the site.

I wonder how many clients will be lost from people who believe this site can actually do what it represents itself to to.

        EA's

I just did a search and didn't find myself. All I saw was every Enrolled Agent in the area. They must get their data from the IRS somehow.

I never even heard of them until now, and I just got my RTRP certificate.

I'm not happy. I don't advertise for a reason, and I sure don't want my name out there.

If you go to teaspiller.scam & type in your name & search near your city, your name may come up. Here is what it says about me:

          State: (blank)

          License:
          Enrolled Agent (EA)
          Registered Tax Return Preparer (Provisional)

          Year acquired: (blank)

The IRS has indicated that they have not found any information in this expert's background that is concerning. Date since last check: 24 Aug 2011

          Y2KEA commentary:

I can proudly say I have a 4.35 rating out of 5 although there are no client reviews to substantiate this. (It appears that all persons W/O client review get at least this rating by teascammer.)

It must be true because I read it on the internet. This is evidenced by the fact that they state I am an EA (which is true) & also a Registered Tax Return Preparer (Provisional) even though I have not applied for & need not apply for RTRP.

They list my home address. They list my business name as being at both my home & business address.

BTW a basic listing with them is free (it appears), they want $9/month for pro & contact them for the cost of listing your firm.
