ex-stepchild "qualifying child" or qualifiying relative

Could an ex-stepchild (16 years old) be considered a "qualifying child" for dependency exemption? Child meets all other requirements.

I know the child meets the requirements of a "qualifying relative".

Not sure what is an ex-stepchild but relationships that were established by marriage are not ended by death or divorce.

Once a step still a step after divorce. You divorce the spouse not the children.

Taxpayer is divorced, but ex-wife's child still lives with him.
Couldn't find anything that addressed the issue.

          Thank you for the help.

Larmil gave you the best answer. However...that is a scary statement. Does that mean my ex husband is still my husband. Ugh!
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.
