No. You will be able to prepare any Federal tax return or claim for refund if you pass the RTRP test unless the IRS develops additional competency tests for other tax returns in the future.
I had read that the IRS is going to limit the types of returns based on the preparers trained knowledge after 2013 but until then and once they have everyone tested for the 1040 return the RTRP will be able to file all types of returns. I have no idea how they will accomplish this. Perhaps of IRS office that is responsible for the registration and testing could answer this question.
