    code L on w-2

states employee business expense-non taxable. Must I fill out form 2106? My software automatically makes it taxable if I do not fill out 2106.

I just had one of these yesterday. I filled in the same amount as employee expense on the 2106 and the form disappeared.

      box 1?

Is is included in Box 1 wages?
Or is it excluded from Box 1, but included in boxes 3 & 5?

This sounds suspiciously like a W2 from the U S Post office.

The code L means accountable plan, i.e. tax free and no 2106 is necessary.

To thwart the software, simply omit any mention of code L when entering w2 information.
Sort of like code J you know.

I don't know what program you are using but ProSeries allows for an adjustment in whatever box you enter to show the non-taxable amount and it subtracts from the total in the box
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.
