    Dependent and HOH Question

T/p - has a 22 year old daughter that graduated from Princeton in June 2011 - full time student, so meet that requirement
Daughter then obtains a full time job in Sept 2011

Can T/p still claim daughter as a dependent for year 2011 - I t is anticpated daughter's wage income is going to be $ 15,000 (?) - but then I do have the T/p support for the Tuition- Room and Board, etc for 6 months while at Princeton and then July and August support.

High Income T/P who paid all College Related Expenses and supported daughter through August 2011

If we can show the over 50% support, T/P can still maintain HOH and dependent exemption for 2011?

    Thanks,

    Sandy

Sounds like a QC, so the relevant support issue would be- Did child provide over half their own support for the year? If not, then looks good.

If she was a full-time student and lived with the tax payer for over 6 months she qualifies as child. Did she move out when she started working or is she still there? As his child it doesn't matter how much she made as long as the support she paid for herself doesn't exceed more than half of the total support.
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.
