    NT Kaspersky Internet Security Issue

I have KIS 2011 and I wonder if anyone else does too and can tell me how to get the program to ignore certain files and whether I truly must go file by file or can ignore folders or even paths. I have tried KIS tech support but they are unhelpful. (I find repeated statements on the website that there is a phone number I could call but none to the number. I find nothing about my issue on their website and a posting on their bulletin board has gone unanswered.) I may be about to ask my tax software company to tell me what security suite causes fewest issues for their software.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it. The last time I had a similar issue the tech support agent at my tax software company walked me through adjusting KIS. No such luck today though.

    I found this http://support.kaspersky.com/kis2011/tech?qid=208280767
If I'm wrong, please correct me, because I don't have the tax knowledge y'all have. Cheers!

      Reason eludes me

Not to sound dense (I'm frequently...rightfully...accused of such), but:

Why would you ever want to ignore any files for a virus scan/protection??? That seems a bit counterproductive and/or unwise. The people who make our electronic lives miserable know how to attach viruses, malware, and spyware to just about any file that may be rattling around on a hard drive. (OK, they supposedly are not as aggressive with Mac computers, but that is a different topic. )

FWIW: I use a different software product and frequently (at least daily) it automatically runs a virus scan in the background, but I also (at least once a week) run an optional full-system scan where everything on my hard drive, as well as the separate memory (EPROM?) or whatever those locations are called, is scanned.

        Reason

Kaspersky assumes that any file which can dial out to the internet is a trojan unless the user specifies otherwise. That means for Drake software for just one year there is a "trojan" for the Federal program and one for each State I have installed. If I allow the removal or quarantine of the relevant files my software won't work. Since safety is definitely not one hundred thousandth much less first I don't allow the removal of files which will mean that my software won't work. I assume they're not infected and go on my merry way.

Ty powerage for trying. The page you found discusses Kaspersky's opinions about which files may reasonably be excluded but says nothing about my problem which is how to exclude them.

Linda... see if this FAQ helps:

If you ever want to change I use a combination of Avast and Malwarebytes. I was a long time Panda Antivirus user but about three years ago they really changed the program. It would automatically delete files, it changed my network card settings, and so forth. From then on I started using Avast.
