    Insulated duct work?

I read the energy credit regarding insulation as it applies to building envelope components.

My client seems to think they can get an energy credit for insulated duct work.

Is that true? Am I missing something??

Not if the item isn't listed.

      Possi,
I see where there are still some energy credits for 2011, but most expired in 2010 - but I haven't found what you posted in your OP "energy duct work" I would think the duct work would be under the HVAC portion maybe insulation

Did you view the Energy Star site [http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=windows_doors.pr_taxcredits[/url] could it be at the State Level and Not Federal?

As you stated it is an "envelope"

Maybe just at the State level or through the Gas/Electric Company providing service?

        Duct Work

If it walks like a duct, and talks like a duct, then...

        it must be de-duct-ible.

        Okay, never mind.

I think she is looking at the instructions on line 3a.
"Enter the amounts you paid for any insulation material or
system (including any vapor retarder or seal to limit infiltration) that
is specifically and primarily designed to reduce the heat loss or gain
of your home when installed in or on such home and meets the
prescriptive criteria established by the IECC."

Her husband came in to get the taxes done. She isn't allowed in my office. I told her husband that insulation meant "envelope" but I'm sure she gave him an earful when he got home.

            No de-duct-ion. Koss! haha

Lordy, Lordy. And, I will add that virtually every stinking thing my clients do to their home - somebody has told them they would get a credit for it. Really tired of the energy credits.
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

There are 2 women who are no longer allowed in my office... They talk constantly and it's not just chatter.. it's NUMBERS. Throwing numbers at me 5 steps ahead of me. One mistake on my part (missed dependent care benefits) and that was it.

                      Cut off..

Here is the message I got today from my client:

"I spoke w a tax consultant from ye IRS today via the IRS hotline, and he reported that the insulation and sealing would be covered."

I asked her what number she called. She hasn't responded.
