IRS miscalculated 09 Making Working Pay credit for TY 2009. Wants client to pay back $100. Client has yet to do so therefore will IRS subtract that $100 from clients 2011 Fed refund? I am going to guess yes. I have been trying to locate the form # on the letter but there is numbers and letters all over the top right of the page. Anyone else have this experience with any of your clients?

Yes, my client received the extra $100 too. It was a round and round fight to try to return the money that was given in error so finally I warned him to keep it in savings as one day they may be asking for the money back. They just received the same notice - pay back the $100 or it will be intercepted. -
Interesting. One of my clients received such a letter last year for 2009 and paid back the $100. There was no interest as they admitted it was their error. It was correct on the return. Six weeks later he got a refund of the $100 he paid back. We gave up.Comment
