    Where's My Refund -No Record

    I Ef'd a return with a large EIC on it. The software says it was accepted on federal and state. But when I go to the website to inquire, they indicate no record. The state of Minnesota shows the return received and a payment date indicated. Anybody else have an experience like this? What do you do about it?

    How long did you wait until going over to "Where's my refund?" My understanding is that it is not an "instant" posting so if you went there the first thing, it probably will not show. Also, did you get an acknowledgement from the IRS?

    Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

      The IRS has issued notices that says the IRS site shows no info on the return when the return has actually been accepted. They have temporarily switched back to legacy efiling because everything is such a mess. At this point, expect refunds to be at least 3 weeks from efiling.

        I sent it in on the 7th and checked on the 10th with no answer. My software indicates it was accepted on the federal and state.

          message from my software company

          The IRS is experiencing a delay in processing returns that were E-filed and accepted Monday, February 6–Friday, February 10, 2012. This means that any refunds associated with these returns will be delayed by up to one week.
          The IRS expects to resolve this processing issue in the next several days. Since the affected returns have not been processed, the IRS will not be able to give an estimated date as to when the refund will be issued on “Where’s My Refund?” until sometime next week.

              What a Mess!

              This year seems to have been a Mess when it has come to the direct deposit of refunds. Early this season I learned my lesson I had so many people call me and say that their refunds were not in the account on the day I said. I guess they think that I control IRS. Well now I just tell them that the refunds are taking about 14 to 21 days and then if they come early I look like the hero right?

              Everyone have a great weekend.

                I read it as Feb 6 through Feb 10.

                  I had several calls yesterday - the online IRS site has no information, but if the client calls they will receive more information from the IRS. From client feedback the February 8 payments are set to deposit February 15.

                    I also had a call on a return that was accepted on the 3rd. They have already received their AZ return. I checked on "wheres my refund", and it showed no record. No EIC No Sch A, only 1099R and SS was all that was on the return

                    I was aware of the problem, and my client was very understanding.

                      Would this glitch also apply to direct debits for amount owed? What happens if you specify a date and the return is not processed until after that date?

                        Had the exact opposite today- client said the refund hotline was down, so I was able to check IRS website for refund info- refund on Monday 13 Feb.

                          Last year the expected refund if direct deposited was up to 15 days.
                          The IRS has already notified us that they are a week behind. I wouldn't even start to ask when before the 15 days was up. Actually I include the websites and phone numbers on my invoice. Since I have no control over the return once it has been filed and the client has only one set of returns to deal with, I figure they can check on it quicker than I can.

                            nothing on Where's My Refund?

                            I checked on 2 returns I did last week, one I did on Monday and one I did on Wednesday. Neither one of them shows up on Where's My Refund? yet.
                            I have acknowledgements from my software company so I know they were processed or should I say received by the IRS.

                            So we can see that IRS is really messed up this batch of returns good. Going to have some unhappy people. I did warn them that there might be delays. It is just that we don't find out that there will be delays till after these clients are gone. I don't have time to call them and warn them again that the refunds will be delayed.

                              Hmmmmm......

                              I just checked the "Where's my refund" for a client and this is the message:

                              ~~~~~~~~~~~
                              Your tax refund was deposited on February 6, 2012. Check with your bank or tax preparer if your refund has not been credited to your account.
                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~

                              What am I suppose to tell them if it is not credited to their account?
