John, I got a little worried so I just talked to him this morning, he's OK, and he'll be back.
I can't really speak for Bart, but there was some mention about Brad's current sticky post about inappropriate content in some of these threads.
We are fortunate enough to have some good minds and expertise among us. Often the best and brightest amongst us display an air of contempt for others whose expertise and training is not as extensive as others. A forum such as this has a broad range of members, from first-year beginners to well-experienced tax attorneys, CPAs, and EAs. Often this has little to do with intellect because some of these beginners will some day become well-known tax specialists and write for nationwide publications.
There have been a number of members no longer with us, whose departure can be traced back to an insult. Usually such an insult comes from a more learned member who bring an air of superiority to the board and conveys this same countenance in a reply. The board monitors at TMI cannot start banning members for the slightest perceived attitude problems or I would have been gone lone ago. So outside of something obviously blatant, they can't stop this air of condescending ridicule from traveling over the wires. People who post can get insulted, and even uninvolved readers become disgusted.
This is a great forum and I'm thankful for the people we have. But I do miss a half dozen or so whom we don't hear from anymore. Some of these had a great deal to offer to the rest of us. Maybe they were too sensitive, or maybe they were just simply disgusted.
Bart is too stable to be fazed by the above, but we did share our disgust about some who seem to have a "superiority complex". He'll be back, I'm sure. Most of us enjoy his homespun Dogpatch literary style and have missed him. -

There is no such thing as a stupid question generally.
I have done complex returns for over 30 years and sometimes I need help to resolve some issue. Myabe I am tired or have not had the situation come up before. It is a good possibility that one of you have and can help.
You folks have helped me get back on track. Sometimes a simple issue to you is mind-boggling to me.
All of us have experiences that can be shared to help others.
If we don't look out for each other, who is going to?Comment
