    Residental Energy Credit

I have a client that received the credit for energy eff furnace/air in 2009 , 1500.00 and in 2011 they had energy eff water heater installed. I have certificate, etc. In reading the pubs since they got the one in 2009 I think they will not get the one this year .

    Any comments on this one

There is a $1,500 lifetime maximum. If you complete the form 5695 properly, it will net to zero.

Even if the client had not attained the 1500 max last year, e.g. had 200 shy of that figure, the new figure for 2011 being 500, will deny any credit for 2011.
IOW, the 500 superceded the previous 1500.

You reckon that's what congress intended?
