    Child Social Security

I have a client who has a 14 year son, who collect social security from the father who is disable. They couple are divorced. The SS benefits came in both the mother and childs name. Has the Child S.S Number. I am read and assuming that nothing needs to be done with this.

    Thanks

Child files SS benefit on his own return, if one is required.

Keep in mind that mom might not be able to claim child if child pay more than half of his own support through SS benefits. Would not effect EIC though.
