    Is worker compensation taxable?

It's a pretty common client question. You can get details in your pub 17 on p.53.

Good quote there, BP. Everybody ought to have a desk copy of publication 17.

I know my 1999 edition is well thumbed and used often.

Amounts you receive as workers’ compensation
for an occupational sickness or injury are fully
exempt from tax if they are paid under a workers’
compensation act or a statute in the nature of a workers’ compensation act.

It's in TTB, but not easy to find. TTB 3-19, under Non-taxable income.
