Does anyone know if NC "may" pass the education credit stuff again this year, late, like they did for 2010. Once again, my tax software is not automatically doing it, and have been unsuccessful in finding it thus far. Thanks!

I've had a couple of returns (not finalized) with AOC and the $2k maximum adjustment is being shown on line 52 of NC Form D-400. The verbiage is something like "education credits claimed on the federal in lieu of deduction for tuition and fees."
Addressing your question specifically: I do not know if this is another one of those "they will probably pass the law" situations or "it IS the law." Wiser minds than my own will have to answer that aspect.
You might also want to see if you have all of the relevant Q&A issues and/or associated worksheet entries complete.

Yes, my tax software is up to date, is ATX. The deduction on line 52 is not happening automatic, I went to the NCDOR site and only see the stuff they had on there for last year, don't know if that applies to this year. I'm about to check the NC D400 book, any opinion would be greatly appreciated, hate to have to file ammendments!
