    Katrina Victim

Client has several rent houses. Client allowed a family from New Orleans stay in one
rent free. This family was a victim of Katrina.
Is there any tax credit for this?
I know that if the family stayed in the principal residence of my client for 60 days
client would get a dependency deduction of $500. per person.
But what if they stayed, rent free, in a rent house?
    Thanks

I don't see any tax benefit available. The exemption applies only if they stay in the TP's principal residence. And the employer provided housing benefits apply to housing qualified employees.

I'm sure there are many different situations where acts of kindness are not being rewarded in the tax code. Life does not always need to have a tax ramification.
