Only certain relationships allow a qualifying relative to qualify you for HOH. These include child, grandchild, parent, grandparent, sibling. They do not include live-in girlfriend.

She might be a dependent but she isn't a relative so she can't be a qualifying person for Head of Household. Depending on the partnership agreement, her share of profits might exceed $3200 so she wouldn't qualify as a dependent.

He is not a gentleman if he keeps her without a ring and makes her work without pay.

Marry 'em

If common-law marriage is permitted in your state and the only requirement is that they hold themselves out to be married, you can marry them by filing a joint return. The 1040 is a legal document isn't it, and my saying you are "married, filing jointly", aren't you saying you are married?

Pronounce them as husband and wife.
