    Research Materials

I have always used TTB as my first research book. But if I need more detailed information I have been using Checkpoint. I really do like it but it is costing me $1,200 a year. Thing is I don't use it that much. Probably ten times a year.

Just wondering what other research resources you all use in addition to TTB? I like how Checkpoint has links out to court cases,IRC, etc. Is there another alternative that is less expensive?

    Thanks

Parker Tax Research has been getting good reviews and it's inexpensive. It's the same people who had Kleinrock before they sold out to CCH. I'm thinking of getting it myself.

          I like Parker

very much. CFS is significantly less expensive and has all the authorities one could want, but I found I was on my own learning to use it at a stage in my life when I did not know how to use a regular search engine such as Google for any complex search. Parker promises that I can send them a problem in my own words and they will send me back the search results on the next business day.

            Natp

By joining NATP you get access to their researchers. You get one question for free every year and then you pay like $20 or $25 per call after that. I am not sure of the exact price.

                Tax Research

I have been using the PPC 1040 Deskbook for years and often I find exactly what I need. I also use the Taxbook Deluxe Edition. On some items, I go to the IRS website and reference the Publications.

PPC costs $234 per year and you get two large notebooks. There is also a CD that you can use a search function.

                    Tax Research

I noticed that CFS Software is offering FREE tax research to customers. This free offer ends April 30, 2012. Don't know if still available but this would be nice to have.

                      Thank you all for commenting.

Lion how much is CCH Intelliconnect?

I am definitely going to look at Parker Tax Research. Price is right and they offer a 30 day trial.

                        Cch

2012 CCH IntelliConnect is $559. There is one level above what I purchase, as well as some add-ons available. As I use it more and more (and take more and more training) I do find it worth the price.
