I got my confirmation tonight after filing for it if memory serves in early November. What I got was a generic email telling me I had mail on the site. I had a little trouble finding the letter on the site - the email could have been clearer about that but oh well. Once I found the right place there was the letter and all is well. I feel that in my case the Service was relatively efficient.

I got the same email on Friday but the site was down for maintenance over the weekend. Yesterday I had the same difficulty figuring out where the email was and how to get to it. You just have to go to the page that appears that you are applying for a PTIN and there is the spot for returning users. So I finally read the email too. Nice to have confirmation that I still have the same PTIN.
