      Stress relief

I play with my grandchildren and read to my granddaughter. She is finally at an age where she will let me read whole stories to her. In fact, I can read 5 or 6 stories to her. I LOVE IT!!

Also tonight was a great stress reliever. My 2 daughters and my son-in-law and my mother took my husband and I out to dinner for our 38th anniversary. When we got to the restaurant 6 other couples who are close friends of ours were there too. We were so surprised. But it was wonderful. It was very relaxing and now I feel like I will explode.

        Happy Anniversary

Linda, Happy Anniversay, and how special that your family and friends remember you and do something special at this particulary stressful time of year.

Grandkids are really a special stress reliever!!!

          Stress-busters

I recommend a strict daily regimen of the following: one hour on the treadmill/ no red meat--but rather a spartan healthful diet of steamed broccoli, bland granola bars, and six 8-ounce glasses of water/ a solid eight-hours sleep/ non-indulgence in alcohol or tobacco/ the abandonment of all impure thought with regard to Kim Basinger look-alikes.

In the meantime, until I begin following that recommendation; I'm taking Valium and fantasizing about pulling my .38 Special and blowing the ignoramuses out of the chair.

            Stress Relief

It would probably work really well if we could work into our hectic schedules, to exercise, take a walk, on the tread mill, etc. I am just having a hard time trying to find that time to do that. Seems like I am on overload.

I know that is no excuse, you just learn how to work it in between appointments, and you know that probably would not be such a bad idea, because then I could tell one of those clients that I really didn't want to see, that I had a prior appt for that time. Maybe then they would find someone else to go to. that would be a REALLY big stress reliever considering a few clients that I have.

In the meantime, deep breathing, stretching, trying to laugh, and a glass of wine!

                Stress Relief

Last year I took the tax prep income and had a little grass shack built in my backyard.
                It houses a hot tub.
This year all the back ache gets soothed by a good soak and great jets.
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.

A bottle of 18 year old Macallan Scotch, kids have to be a sleep because they have to be quiet when daddy's drinking.
I would put a favorite quote in here, but it would get me banned from the board.

Preparing tax returns is my part time occupation. I also do mortgages, Insurance and real estate on a referral basis. All these on a part time basis. At my regular job from 8.00 to 4.30 I work in an office doing any and every thing- Jack of all. My boss is a pain in the you know what. At 4.30 I can't wait to go home and do tax returns.

Doing taxes is relaxing for me.NO STRESS; and I love every minute of it especially when the lady jumps right across the desk and gave me a smooch because she gets a refund from last year return after it was amended.

I have been in the tax business on a part time basis for the last 20 years I am going full time for the 2006 tax season. At this point in time I am doing approx 250 return per year and I know that if I go full time it would at least double.

So you guys who are feeling a little stressful, HANG IN THERE . There is a silver lining just around the horizon.
Everybody should pay his income tax with a smile. I tried it, but they wanted cash

                      Enjoy taxes too

I have always enjoyed doing taxes. We all must deep down enjoy it or we wouldn't keep doing it. When I left H&RB after working for them for 15 years, it was only because I was working for someone else 3 or 4 days a week and couldn't really do both for the second year in a row. But the other job was all year around and after 15 years of only working for 3 months, I got tired of having to go to work all year. And I really missed my clients. So I decided to go back to doing taxes in an office in my home.

I had around 80 clients that came back to me the first year I was working. Each year it has grown. They refer friends, neighbors and workmates to me. They send their kids to me when they get out on their own. So my business is growing.

Even though I am sitting here at my desk at 10 or 11 o'clock at night, it is my choice to be working then. I am able to do other things that I WANT to do when I want to do them.

I really love helping my clients. I did extra research for a client last week that seemed to have a very large gain on sale of stock. But looking at the situation more closely, I realized that the shares that were sold were the ones from the reinvested dividends, not the original stock certificate. He is still holding the original certificate. So we were able to come up with a better basis that saved him almost $1000 in taxes. They will be so thrilled.

So my stress only comes from trying to schedule all I want to do with what I have to do.
Since I am my own boss, I get along fine with the boss.

Hope everyone has a very good year.

                      Linda F

I also have another job besides this one. I work half day as Office Manager at True Value and work from 1:30 until whenever at my tax office. After tax season I go back to True Value for 40-50 hours a week. Both are stressful, but I like taxes better. To relax is a hot bubble bath, candles and a glass of wine. Whatever day I have is whatever glasses I have.
