    Drug addiction medical expense

Client's high school kid has takes up addiction to almost anything in the medicine cabinet, in addition to the usual street stuff. He was sent to a rehabilitation center and was kicked out. I'm sure that cost is all a deduction. He was sent to a drug treatment academy next. They divide the tab into therapy, room & board and high school level education. Since he had to be there to not continue self abuse, I believe the therapy, room & board are solid medical deductions. Am wondering about the education. Thanks for your thoughts.

The education would not be a deduction. Is it separately stated as an expense? If not, you would have to ascertain what is applicable to that and disregard.
